Foley Scandal is Bi-Partisan

I find it absurd that the media has spun the escapades into a “Republican” scandal. The idea that predetory behavior is a skeleton in the “Republican” closet and therefore elevates the Democratic candidates is ignorant. I hold the entire House of Representatives responsible for how long Foley’s behavior has been glossed over. It is inexcusable that members of congress would ignore these serious allegations. Don’t tell me Democrats did not know, that no one ever said one word to them about it. With all the backstabbing BS that goes on in congress are you telling me that only Republicans knew about it? Right.

The media should be ashamed of trying to manipulate the public vote. Without this media spin, the unthinkable might happen: No member of congress would be re-elected (neither Democrat nor Republican). They don’t deserve it. If they let this kind of BS go for 8 years then what else have they ignored? No. The current members of congress should all beg forgiveness and recognize that apathy is no excuse for incompetence.

How to Respond to Teenage Angst and Live to Smile About It

Now that my step-children are in college, I find myself reflecting on the often laughable, two sentence conversations that we have survived. It is amazing to hear my co-workers recite these exact scenario’s with various responses. It confirms that my step-children were not unique in their angst:

Teen: “My friends think you are stupid for not letting me go with them!”
Response: “It’s a good thing I don’t care what your friends think.”

Teen: “I’m 16 and I don’t have to listen to you!”
Response: “I’m 42 and I still listen to my parents.”

Teen: “Who cares / What’s the big deal?”
Response: “I care. You’re the one making it a big deal.”

Teen: “I’m an adult and I can do what I want!”
Response: “You’re right, and adults deal with the consequences of their actions. Here are the consequences of your actions.”

Teen: “It’s my life!”
Response: “It’s my house.”

Teen: “Why do you care if I wear flip flops out in 2 feet of snow? Don’t I get to make my own choices?”
Response: “You can choose whatever you want, but you obviously need help narrowing down your choices.”

Teen: “It’s not fair!”
Response: “If it was fair, you’d do it again.”

Teen: “My friends mother is letting her go!”
Response: “If your friends mother pays for your college, she can have a say in what you do too.”

Teen: “I don’t care what people think, people should not judge me.”
Response: “So will you write a book so they can understand your stupid choices instead of judging you by your actions?”

Teen: “Dad swears and cusses… why can’t I?”
Response: “Adult language is for adults that understand where it is acceptable and where it is not; It is NOT acceptable in front of your parents.”

Teen: “I need to live it up now before I get too old to have fun… these are the best days of my life!”
Response: “Don’t peak too early. If these are the best days of your life then why do you complain so much?”

The Appalling “Path to 9/11″

Click here to get involved and counter-act the latest the spin machine has to offer.

I am appalled that ABC is dramatizing and enhancing the storylines and conversations. They are not portraying fictional characters, they are literally putting words into people that are still alive to use as references. Unlike the West Wing drama series that clearly impersonates various political figures, real names are not used and that helps with the separation between a dramatization and reality.

This rings too much like political propoganda similar to how China reinvents reality into a more acceptable format. I find it repulsive that free speech is being used to twist facts and point fingers. Although Michael Moore delivered personal commentary throughout a “documentary,” he did not misquote anyone AND the government DID get a chance to review and EDIT it’s acurracy. Now don’t get me wrong, I was appalled at Micheal Moore’s ranting while claiming to have produced a “documentary.” It would have been much more effective if he stated the facts without his constant opinions trying to spoon feed his personal conclusions to us.

“The Path to 9/11″ is nothing more than primetime spin machine propoganda. More “post traumatic torture” from the power hungry neocons. Perhaps “The Path to 9/11″ should highlight our civillian responisbilities. How we as civillians continue to sit by and be represented in a global society by those that are only concerned with personal wealth and power. Can you name the last president that truely represented the American idealism of the true majority?

How can we enforce “freedom” on sovereign nations when the “majority” of Americans don’t exercise their rights to free speech, freedom of religion and to vote? “The Path to 9/11″ points the finger at a few key people in the government instead of realizing that 9/11 is a product of every citizens’ ignorance and apathy.
